Possible Causes

Open or shorted evaporator thermistor, Loose thermistor connector, Damaged wiring harness to sensor, Control board sensor input failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the appliance before accessing internal components.

Thermistor inspection:

  • Locate sensor: Remove the interior rear panel to access the evaporator. The Siemens thermistor is usually clipped to the evaporator tubing or mounted nearby in a plastic housing.
  • Visual check: Inspect the sensor body and wires for cracks, cuts, or corrosion. Ensure the clip holds the sensor firmly against the tubing.
  • Check connection: Trace the sensor wires to the connector on the wiring harness or control board. Reseat the connector and look for bent pins or moisture.
  • Measure resistance: With a multimeter, measure thermistor resistance at room temperature and compare to Siemens specifications (commonly 5–10 kΩ at 25°C, but verify for your model). An open circuit or 0 Ω indicates a failed sensor.
  • Replace sensor: If out of range, replace the evaporator thermistor with the correct Siemens part. Route the new wiring along the original path and secure with clips or ties to avoid fan blades.

After replacement: Clear the error by disconnecting power for a few minutes, then restore power and run a test cycle.
