Possible Causes
Blocked or dirty infrared emitter/receiver, Failed bin level sensor, Misaligned sensor bracket, Faulty wiring to sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before cleaning or adjusting sensors.
Sensor cleaning and alignment:
- Remove ice bin: Pull out the bin and inspect the sensor windows on both sides of the ice chute (if equipped with IR sensors).
- Clean lenses: Use a soft cloth slightly dampened with warm water to clean the emitter and receiver windows. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Check for obstructions: Ensure no ice chunks or packaging material are blocking the sensor path.
- Inspect wiring and brackets: Remove the front panel to access the sensor modules. Confirm that the brackets are not bent and that connectors are fully seated.
- Test operation: Reinstall the bin and restore power. If the unit still does not recognize bin status, the Siemens bin level sensor assembly may need replacement.
Note: Some models use a mechanical switch in the bin. Verify the switch actuator moves freely and clicks when pressed.
