Possible Causes

Closed or partially closed water supply valve, Clogged water inlet filter screen, Defective water inlet valve coil, Kinked or frozen water supply line

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker and close the water supply valve before disconnecting any hoses.

Corrective actions:

  • Verify water supply: Ensure the household shut-off valve feeding the SMEG ice maker is fully open. Check that other fixtures on the same line have good pressure.
  • Inspect supply hose: Pull the unit forward and inspect the water hose for kinks, crushing, or freezing (if routed through a cold area). Straighten or replace the hose as needed.
  • Clean inlet filter: At the connection to the water inlet valve, remove the hose and check for a small mesh filter. Rinse debris under running water and reinstall.
  • Test water inlet valve: With power disconnected, remove the valve's electrical connectors and measure coil resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed coil. Replace the SMEG water inlet valve assembly if defective.
  • Check for leaks: After reassembly, slowly open the water valve and inspect for drips at all connections before pushing the unit back into place.
