Safety first: Unplug the unit and close the water supply. Expect some water spillage when opening the pump housing.

Corrective actions:

• Access the pump: Remove the lower front panel or internal sump cover to reach the circulation pump.
• Check for debris: Open the pump housing and inspect the impeller for scale, plastic fragments, or other debris. Clean thoroughly.
• Spin impeller: Ensure the impeller rotates freely by hand. If stiff or jammed, replace the pump assembly.
• Electrical test: Measure resistance across the pump motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. Replace with a SMEG-compatible circulation pump.
• Bleed air: After reassembly, fill the sump with water and run a test cycle to purge air from the system.
