Possible Causes
Severely clogged condenser coil, Failed condenser fan motor, Ice maker installed in confined space with poor ventilation, High ambient room temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before cleaning or servicing the condenser area.
Steps:
- Improve ventilation: Ensure the SMEG ice maker has the required clearance around the sides, back, and top as specified in the manual. Do not enclose it tightly in cabinetry without proper vents.
- Clean condenser: Remove the front or rear grille and thoroughly vacuum and brush the condenser fins. Use compressed air if available, blowing from inside out.
- Check condenser fan: Confirm the fan runs whenever the compressor is on. If not, test the fan motor and replace if defective.
- Ambient temperature: Verify that the room temperature is within the recommended range. Relocate the unit if installed near ovens, dishwashers, or direct sunlight.
- Reset protection: After cooling and cleaning, restore power. Some models may require a manual reset or a power cycle to clear the E14 error.
