Possible Causes
Empty water reservoir, Stuck float switch, Dirty water level probes, Faulty water level sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before reaching into the reservoir.
- Refill reservoir: Remove the ice basket and fill the reservoir to the indicated MAX line with clean water. Avoid overfilling.
- Check float movement: If your Swan model uses a float, gently lift and release it to ensure it moves freely and is not stuck by scale or debris.
- Clean level probes: For probe-type sensors, wipe the metal rods with a cloth and mild vinegar solution to remove mineral deposits, then rinse.
- Reset: Plug the unit back in and press the power button. Some models require holding the power or select button for a few seconds to clear the indicator.
If the 'ADD WATER' message remains despite a full reservoir and clean sensors, the water level sensor assembly may need replacement.
