Possible Causes

Insufficient water in reservoir, Blocked water inlet filter, Kinked or pinched inlet hose (plumbed-in models), Faulty water level sensor in reservoir

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before opening any panels. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to mains power.

  • Check water level: Remove the ice basket and inspect the water reservoir. Fill to the MAX line with clean, potable water. Restart the unit and see if E1 clears.
  • Inspect inlet hose (if plumbed-in Swan model): Ensure the water supply tap is fully open. Check the hose at the back of the unit for kinks or sharp bends. Straighten or reposition as needed.
  • Clean inlet filter: At the hose connection or reservoir inlet, locate the small mesh filter. Remove it carefully, rinse under running water, and reinstall.
  • Check water level sensor: With the unit unplugged, locate the water level sensor or float in the reservoir (often a small plastic float or probe assembly). Make sure it moves freely and is not coated with scale or slime. Clean with a soft brush and mild vinegar solution, rinse thoroughly, and dry before reassembly.
  • Reset the unit: Plug the unit back in, press the power button, and if available, hold the ON/OFF or SELECT button for 5–10 seconds to clear the error.

If E1 persists after cleaning and confirming water supply, the water level sensor or control board may be faulty and should be tested or replaced by a qualified technician.
