Possible Causes

Blocked ice full sensor, Misaligned infrared emitter/receiver pair, Faulty ice full sensor board, Loose wiring harness to sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the ice maker from mains power before touching internal components.

  • Empty the ice basket: Remove all ice from the storage basket and ensure no cubes are jammed around the ice full sensor area.
  • Locate the ice full sensor: On many Swan countertop ice makers, this is an infrared sensor pair (emitter and receiver) on opposite sides of the ice chute or above the basket. Look for small dark plastic windows.
  • Clean the sensor windows: Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to wipe both sensor lenses. Avoid harsh chemicals that can cloud the plastic.
  • Check alignment: Ensure the emitter and receiver are directly facing each other and not bent or obstructed by plastic panels or wiring.
  • Inspect wiring: With the cover removed (if accessible), gently check that the sensor wiring harness is firmly plugged into the control board and not pinched.
  • Power up and test: Reassemble, plug in, and restart the unit. Allow a full cycle to see if the E2 code reappears.

If the error returns, the ice full sensor module or control PCB may need replacement.
