Possible Causes

Blocked condenser coil, Failed condenser fan motor, High ambient room temperature, Faulty compressor overload protector or PTC starter

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker. Allow hot components to cool before touching. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system.

  • Check ventilation: Ensure there is at least 10–15 cm clearance around all sides and the rear of the unit. Move it away from walls or heat sources (ovens, radiators, direct sunlight).
  • Clean condenser coil: Access the rear or bottom grille and locate the condenser coil (metal fins). Use a soft brush or vacuum with a brush attachment to remove dust and lint.
  • Verify condenser fan operation: With the unit reassembled and plugged in, briefly power it on and observe the fan near the compressor. It should spin whenever the compressor runs. If it does not start or is noisy, the fan motor may be failing.
  • Allow cool-down: Turn the unit off for at least 30–45 minutes to let the compressor thermal overload reset, then restart.

If E5 recurs and the fan is working and airflow is clear, the compressor start components (overload/relay) or the compressor itself may be faulty and should be diagnosed by a refrigeration technician.
