Possible Causes

Jammed ice sweep arm, failed harvest motor, broken gear in drive assembly, ice thickness too great causing jam, faulty motor wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the ice maker before attempting to free any moving parts.

  • Inspect ice grid: Remove the ice basket and look at the evaporator plate and ice sweep/ejector arm. Check for large, fused ice blocks or cubes stuck in the grid.
  • Defrost jammed ice: If ice is stuck, allow the unit to sit unplugged until the ice melts, or use a cloth soaked in warm water on the evaporator surface. Do not use sharp tools.
  • Check sweep arm movement: Gently move the sweep arm by hand. It should move smoothly without binding. If it is stiff, inspect for broken plastic or misaligned brackets.
  • Access harvest motor: Remove the top cover to reach the harvest motor and gear assembly. Look for stripped gears or broken mounts.
  • Test motor: With the unit unplugged, measure motor coil resistance. If open, replace the harvest/ejector motor assembly.
  • Reassemble and test: After clearing jams and replacing any damaged parts, reassemble, plug in, and run a cycle to confirm E10 is cleared.
