Possible Causes

Loose ribbon cable between keypad and main PCB, moisture intrusion in control panel, failed touchpad, defective main control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the Tower ice maker before opening the control panel.

  • Dry the panel: If the panel has been exposed to spills or condensation, wipe it dry and allow it to air out for several hours before retesting.
  • Access control panel: Remove the screws securing the front or top control panel. Carefully lift it to expose the ribbon cable or wiring harness.
  • Check connections: Reseat the ribbon cable or connector between the keypad and main PCB. Ensure it is fully inserted and locked.
  • Inspect for corrosion: Look for green/white corrosion on the keypad PCB or main board. If present, the affected board should be replaced.
  • Test buttons: With the unit reassembled and powered, test each button. If some buttons do not respond and E12 persists, replace the keypad/control panel assembly.
  • Main PCB: If a known-good keypad still triggers E12, replace the main control PCB.
