Possible Causes
Faulty bin level switch, stuck mechanical arm, failed IR bin sensor, misaligned sensor bracket, wiring damage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before inspecting the bin area.
- Check bin for obstructions: Remove the ice basket and ensure no ice chunks or foreign objects are blocking the bin level arm or sensor.
- Inspect mechanical arm (if equipped): Move the arm up and down; it should move freely and click the internal switch. If stiff, clean and lubricate lightly with food-safe lubricant.
- IR sensor type: Clean the emitter and receiver lenses with a soft cloth and ensure they are aligned.
- Test switch/sensor: Use a multimeter to test continuity of the bin level switch or follow service data for IR sensor testing. Replace the bin level sensor assembly if faulty.
- Check wiring: Verify the harness from the bin sensor to the control PCB is intact and connectors are secure.
