Possible Causes
Insufficient hot gas bypass (on certain Tower models), poor evaporator surface coating, incorrect cycle timing from PCB, scaled evaporator surface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before touching the evaporator.
- Clean evaporator surface: Mineral buildup can cause cubes to stick. Use a soft cloth with a vinegar solution to gently clean the evaporator plate, then rinse and dry.
- Check ambient temperature: Very low room temperatures can affect release. Ensure the unit is used within the specified ambient range.
- Inspect refrigerant lines: Look for kinks or crushed tubing near the evaporator that could affect hot gas flow (do not cut or open the system).
- Control timing: If E20 persists, the control PCB may not be providing correct harvest timing. Replacement of the main control PCB may be required.
- Technician service: If a sealed system or hot gas bypass issue is suspected, contact a qualified refrigeration technician.
