Possible Causes
Blocked ice full sensor, failed infrared emitter/receiver, misaligned sensor bracket, damaged sensor wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before touching the sensor assembly.
- Locate ice full sensor: Look near the top of the ice storage bin for an infrared sensor pair (emitter and receiver) or a mechanical lever sensor.
- Clean sensor lenses: If it is an IR type, gently clean the lenses with a soft, dry cloth to remove frost, dust, or mineral residue.
- Check alignment: Ensure the emitter and receiver are directly facing each other and the bracket is not bent.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the control PCB. Check for loose connectors or damaged insulation.
- Test operation: With the unit powered (use caution), block and unblock the sensor path and listen for relay clicks or watch for status changes on the display. If no response, unplug and replace the ice full sensor assembly.
- Mechanical lever type: If your Tower model uses a lever, ensure it moves freely and the microswitch actuates. Replace the lever/microswitch assembly if it is stuck or electrically open.
