Possible Causes
Overheated compressor, failed compressor thermal protector, blocked condenser airflow, low or high refrigerant charge, faulty main control PCB relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker. The compressor and condenser coil can be very hot; allow them to cool before touching.
- Ventilation check: Ensure the ice maker has at least several centimeters of clearance on all sides and is not placed in a confined cabinet. Remove any obstructions from the rear and sides.
- Clean condenser: Remove the rear panel and gently vacuum or brush dust from the condenser coil and fan blades.
- Check condenser fan: Spin the fan by hand (with power off). It should rotate freely. If stiff or seized, replace the condenser fan motor.
- Inspect compressor overload: Locate the compressor start/overload device. Check for signs of burning or melting. If the overload is open when the compressor is cool, replace the start/overload assembly.
- Restart test: After cooling and cleaning, plug in and start a cycle. If E7 returns quickly, the compressor or control board may be faulty. Compressor or sealed system work should be done by a qualified refrigeration technician.
