Possible Causes

Failed circulation water pump, blocked pump impeller, air-locked pump, damaged pump wiring, faulty control PCB triac/relay

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the ice maker and drain the reservoir before removing the pump.

  • Check water level: Ensure the reservoir is filled to the correct level. Low water can cause pump cavitation and errors.
  • Listen for pump: With the unit briefly powered and started (use caution), listen for pump operation. If silent, unplug and continue.
  • Access pump: Remove the ice basket and top cover to reach the water pump, usually located at the bottom of the reservoir with hoses attached.
  • Inspect hoses and filter: Check for kinks in the silicone hoses and clean any inlet filter screens that may be clogged with debris.
  • Test pump: Disconnect the pump and measure coil resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed pump. If possible, bench-test the pump with the correct low voltage (per spec) to confirm operation.
  • Replace pump: If the pump is seized or electrically open, install a new Tower-compatible circulation water pump and reconnect hoses securely to prevent leaks.
  • Control board: If the pump is good but never receives power, the control PCB output may be faulty and require replacement.
