Possible Causes
Loose fan blades, failing condenser fan motor, vibrating panels, ice sweep arm hitting ice or housing, compressor mounting grommets worn
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before tightening or adjusting components.
- Identify noise source: Run the unit briefly and listen from different sides to locate the noise (fan area, compressor area, ice compartment).
- Check fan assembly: Inspect the condenser and evaporator fans for loose blades or obstructions. Tighten screws and remove any foreign objects.
- Secure panels: Tighten all cabinet screws and add foam or rubber pads where panels vibrate against each other.
- Inspect ice sweep arm: Ensure the sweep/ejector arm is not bent and does not strike the housing. Straighten or replace if damaged.
- Compressor mounts: Check rubber grommets under the compressor. Replace if hardened or cracked to reduce vibration.
