Possible Causes
Stuck mechanical float, Faulty water level sensor, Mineral buildup on float assembly, Loose connection at control board water level input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing covers or working near water components.
Steps to resolve E2:
- Check water reservoir: Remove the ice basket and inspect the water tank. Ensure it is filled to the correct level and that no foreign objects are blocking the float.
- Clean the float: Locate the float or water level sensor in the reservoir. Gently move it up and down. If it sticks, clean it with warm water and a mild descaling solution to remove mineral deposits.
- Inspect wiring: Access the internal compartment and trace the float/sensor wires to the control board. Ensure connectors are tight and not corroded.
- Test the float switch (if mechanical): With a multimeter set to continuity, disconnect the float switch and check that it opens and closes as you move the float. Replace if it does not change state.
- Replace sensor if needed: If the sensor is electronic and shows no visible damage but E2 persists, replace with a compatible Tristar water level sensor / float switch assembly.
- Reassemble and test: Refill the reservoir, restore power, and run a cycle to confirm normal operation.
