How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning. Use only food-safe cleaners.
Cleaning steps:
- Empty and clean reservoir: Discard all water and ice. Wash the reservoir with warm soapy water, then rinse thoroughly.
- Sanitize system: Fill the reservoir with a mixture of water and food-safe sanitizer or vinegar (per Tristar instructions) and run a cleaning cycle if available.
- Clean bin and tray: Wash the ice bin, scoop, and water tray with mild detergent and rinse well.
- Flush with fresh water: Run 2–3 full ice cycles and discard the ice to remove residual cleaner.
- Use filtered water: For best taste, use filtered or bottled water in your Tristar ice maker.
