Possible Causes

Faulty ambient NTC temperature sensor, Broken or loose sensor wiring harness, Corroded sensor connector on control board, Failed main control board sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Vremi ice maker from the wall outlet before opening any panels. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to power.

Step-by-step checks:

  • 1. Power reset: Unplug the unit for 10 minutes, then plug it back in and see if E1 clears. If it returns, continue.
  • 2. Locate the ambient sensor: On most Vremi countertop ice makers, the ambient NTC sensor is clipped near the air intake or mounted on the side wall inside the cabinet behind the outer shell. Remove the rear or side cover by taking out the perimeter screws.
  • 3. Inspect wiring: Follow the two small-gauge wires from the sensor to the main control board. Look for pinched, cut, or burned insulation. Reseat the connector on the board by unplugging and firmly reconnecting it.
  • 4. Check sensor placement: Ensure the sensor bulb or probe is not dangling loose; it should be clipped firmly to the metal surface or bracket specified by the factory. A loose sensor can read incorrectly and trigger E1.
  • 5. Test the sensor (advanced): With a multimeter set to resistance (ohms), disconnect the sensor and measure across its two leads. Compare the reading to a typical NTC curve (e.g., around 5–20 kΩ at room temperature). An open circuit (OL) or 0 Ω indicates a bad sensor.
  • 6. Replace if defective: If the sensor is out of range or physically damaged, replace it with a compatible Vremi ambient NTC temperature sensor. Route the new sensor wiring away from hot components and moving parts, and secure with cable ties.
  • 7. Control board check: If a known-good sensor still gives E1, the sensor input on the main control board may be faulty. Inspect the board for burn marks or corrosion and consider replacement.

When to call a technician: If you are not comfortable using a multimeter or removing the cabinet panels, or if replacing the sensor does not clear E1, contact a qualified appliance technician.
