How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before inspecting internal switches.
Steps:
- 1. Check basket installation: Ensure the ice basket is fully seated in the correct orientation. Some Vremi models use a tab or magnet on the basket to actuate a switch.
- 2. Inspect basket components: Look for a missing or broken plastic tab or magnet on the basket edge. Replace the basket if damaged.
- 3. Locate the switch: Find the small reed switch or micro switch inside the cabinet where the basket engages. Verify it is not bent or loose.
- 4. Test the switch: With the unit unplugged, use a multimeter to check continuity while actuating the switch manually or with the basket in place. Replace if it does not change state.
- 5. Replace switch: Install a new Vremi ice basket position switch if defective, and secure wiring away from moving parts.
Tip: Do not slam the basket into place; this can damage the position switch over time.
