Possible Causes

Blocked ice full sensor, Misaligned infrared emitter/receiver, Failed ice full optical sensor, Loose sensor wiring to control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off and unplug the ice maker before reaching into the ice bin or removing panels.

Steps:

  • 1. Check for ice blockage: Remove the ice basket and clear any ice cubes stuck near the ice full sensor window or arm. On many Vremi models, an infrared sensor pair monitors when the basket is full.
  • 2. Clean the sensor lenses: Use a soft cloth slightly dampened with water to wipe the small plastic windows on both sides of the bin (emitter and receiver). Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  • 3. Verify alignment: Ensure the sensor housings are not bent or loose. The emitter and receiver should face each other directly across the bin.
  • 4. Inspect wiring: If accessible, follow the sensor wires to the control board. Reseat the connectors and check for damage.
  • 5. Test operation: With the unit reassembled and powered, start a cycle with an empty basket. If E4 appears immediately, the sensor may be defective.
  • 6. Replace sensor: Install a new Vremi ice full infrared sensor assembly (emitter and receiver pair) if cleaning and alignment do not resolve the error.

Warning: Do not bypass or short the ice full sensor permanently; this can cause overfilling and potential water damage.
