Possible Causes
Bent or misaligned ice thickness probe, Scale buildup on thickness sensor, Failed ice thickness thermistor, Loose sensor wiring to control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off and unplug the ice maker before reaching into the ice-making chamber.
Steps:
- 1. Locate the thickness sensor: On many Vremi models, a metal probe or sensor arm sits near the evaporator grid to detect ice thickness during harvest.
- 2. Inspect for damage: Check if the probe is bent, broken, or touching the evaporator incorrectly. Gently bend it back to the original position if misaligned.
- 3. Clean scale buildup: Mineral deposits can insulate the sensor. Use a soft cloth and a 1:1 mixture of white vinegar and water to clean the probe thoroughly. Rinse with clean water and dry.
- 4. Check wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the control board. Ensure the connector is fully seated and wires are intact.
- 5. Replace sensor if needed: If E7 persists after cleaning and alignment, replace the Vremi ice thickness sensor/probe assembly.
Note: After replacement, run several cycles to allow the control to recalibrate ice size.
