Possible Causes
Open or shorted defrost sensor, Sensor detached from evaporator, Wiring harness damage, Control board sensor circuit failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before servicing.
Steps to address F2:
- Access evaporator area: Remove the interior rear panel of the ice compartment to expose the evaporator and defrost sensor.
- Check sensor mounting: Ensure the sensor is clipped or strapped to the evaporator tubing. Reattach if loose using appropriate clips or thermal tape.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the control board, checking for damage or loose connectors.
- Test sensor: Disconnect and measure resistance. Compare to expected values; a reading of 0 Ω or OL indicates a bad sensor.
- Replace sensor: Install a new defrost/evaporator sensor if faulty.
- Control board: If the sensor is good and wiring is intact, replace the main control PCB.
