Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave before working near the door switches. Do not bypass or jumper door switches for testing while the unit is powered.
- Check door closure:
- Ensure the door closes evenly and latches firmly on both upper and lower hooks.
- Inspect for cracked plastic around the latch area.
- Listen for clicks: Slowly open and close the door while listening for distinct clicks from the interlock switches. Missing or weak clicks can indicate a bad or misaligned switch.
- Inspect door switches:
- Remove the outer cabinet.
- Locate the door switch cluster near the latch side.
- Check that each switch is firmly mounted and that the actuator levers are not broken.
- Look for loose or burned connectors.
- Replace faulty switch or latch: If a switch is physically damaged or not actuated by the door latch, replace the specific door switch or the entire latch assembly with a Black+Decker-compatible part.
If E6 persists after replacing suspect switches, the door sensing circuit on the control board may be defective and require professional service.
