Possible Causes
Bent door latch hooks, Worn door latch receiver on cabinet, Misaligned door hinges, Broken door spring or hinge components
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before adjusting mechanical parts.
- Inspect door alignment: Check that the door sits squarely in the opening and that the gap is even all around. If the door sags, the hinges may be worn or loose.
- Check latch hooks: Open the door and inspect the plastic latch hooks at the top/side. If they are cracked, bent, or loose, they may not fully engage the interlock switches.
- Inspect latch receiver: Look inside the cabinet where the hooks enter. Ensure the latch bracket is not bent or loose. Tighten mounting screws if necessary.
- Test operation: After any adjustment, close the door firmly and try starting a short cycle. Do not bypass or tape down door switches; this is extremely dangerous.
- Replace worn parts: If hooks or hinges are damaged, replace the door latch assembly or hinge kit specific to your Bush model.
