Possible Causes
Aging magnetron with reduced emission, Partially failing high-voltage capacitor, Low mains voltage supply, Faulty power level control on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before any internal inspection.
- Check mains supply: Avoid using long extension leads or sharing the socket with other high-power appliances. Plug directly into a properly rated outlet.
- Test heating performance: Heat 1 cup (250 ml) of water on full power for 2 minutes. It should be very hot or near boiling. If only warm, output is low.
- Inspect for overheating signs: A weak magnetron may cause unusual noises or smells. If present, stop using the microwave.
- Professional repair: A technician can measure current draw and test HV components. Often the magnetron and/or capacitor must be replaced.
