Possible Causes

Failed convection temperature sensor, Open thermal fuse on convection heater, Blocked convection fan, Faulty convection heater element

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the microwave/oven combo. Internal components can be very hot after use.

  • Allow full cool-down: Let the unit cool for at least 45–60 minutes, then plug back in and test. Overheat protection may reset after cooling.
  • Check airflow: Ensure rear and top vents are not blocked. Remove any items stored on top of the microwave that could trap heat.
  • Inspect convection fan (if accessible): On some Oster models, you can see the convection fan through the rear interior cover. Start a convection cycle and verify the fan spins. If it does not, the fan motor or its wiring may be faulty.
  • Advanced checks: With the cabinet removed and power disconnected, test the convection heater thermal fuse and temperature sensor for continuity and proper resistance. Replace any open components with Oster-specified parts.
