Microwave will not start; display shows E01 immediately after pressing START.

Safety first: Unplug the Severin microwave from the mains before any work. High voltage is present inside even when unplugged; do not touch the high-voltage section (capacitor, transformer, magnetron). If unsure, contact a qualified technician.

• Step 1 – Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and evenly. Look for bent or damaged latch hooks on the door and debris around the latch area. Clean and gently straighten any slightly bent plastic tabs.
• Step 2 – Inspect door switches (interlocks): Remove the outer cabinet (usually several screws at the back and sides). Locate the door switch assembly near the latch. Check that each microswitch actuator is properly engaged when the door is closed and that the mounting bracket is not loose or cracked.
• Step 3 – Test switches electrically: With a multimeter set to continuity, test the primary, secondary, and monitor switches according to their NO/NC markings. Replace any switch that does not change state when the door is opened/closed.
• Step 4 – Check wiring harness: Inspect the small harness connecting the switches to the control board for loose spade connectors, burnt terminals, or broken wires. Reseat connectors firmly.
• Step 5 – Reassemble and test: Refit the cabinet, plug in, and test with a cup of water. If E01 persists, the control PCB may be misreading the interlock circuit and should be checked by a technician.
