Possible Causes
Corrupted firmware, Failed EEPROM chip, Power surge damage to control PCB, Poor solder joints on memory IC
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave before opening the control panel.
- Step 1 – Power cycle: Disconnect from mains for at least 10 minutes to allow the control to fully reset. Plug back in and check if E10 clears.
- Step 2 – Surge protection: If the error followed a power outage or surge, connect the microwave via a surge-protected outlet to prevent recurrence.
- Step 3 – Inspect control PCB: Remove the control panel and visually inspect the board for burn marks, cracked solder joints, or damaged ICs. Lightly press on socketed components (if any) to ensure they are seated.
- Step 4 – Replace control board: In most cases, E10 requires replacement of the entire control PCB, as EEPROM reprogramming is not user-serviceable. Order the correct Severin control module by model number.
