Possible Causes
Blown main fuse, Faulty mains filter board, Damaged power cord, Open thermal fuse on cavity or magnetron
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the microwave before opening. Internal fuses are on live circuits.
- Step 1 – Check outlet: Verify the wall socket works by plugging in another appliance.
- Step 2 – Inspect power cord: Look for cuts, kinks, or burn marks. Replace if damaged.
- Step 3 – Check main fuse: Remove the cabinet and locate the ceramic fuse near the mains input. Test with a multimeter. Replace only with the exact same rating and investigate for shorts if it blew.
- Step 4 – Inspect thermal fuses: Locate thermal cut-outs on the magnetron and cavity. Test for continuity. Replace any open thermal fuse with the correct Severin part.
- Step 5 – If still dead: The mains filter board or control PCB may be faulty and should be tested by a technician.
