Possible Causes

Failed humidity sensor, Sensor vent blocked by grease or debris, Loose sensor wiring connector, Moisture damage to sensor circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the microwave before cleaning around the sensor area.

Steps:

  • 1. Locate sensor: On most Vida microwaves, the humidity sensor is a small grille or opening on the upper side wall or ceiling of the cavity.
  • 2. Clean sensor area: Wipe the sensor cover and surrounding area with a mild detergent solution, then dry thoroughly. Built-up grease or residue can block steam detection.
  • 3. Avoid covering sensor: Do not place large covers or containers directly in front of the sensor opening during sensor cooking.
  • 4. Test manual modes: If manual time/power cooking works but sensor modes fail with E12, the sensor itself or its wiring is likely faulty.

Replacing the humidity sensor requires removing the outer cabinet and sometimes the control panel. If cleaning does not resolve E12, have a technician replace the sensor.
