Possible Causes
Blown internal line fuse, Open thermal fuse on cavity or magnetron, Faulty door interlock preventing power-up, Failed main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the microwave before any inspection.
Steps:
- 1. Check outlet: Test the wall outlet with another appliance. Reset any tripped breaker or GFCI outlet.
- 2. Inspect power cord: Look for visible damage. If damaged, do not use the microwave.
- 3. Internal fuse (for experienced DIYers only): Remove the outer cover (after unplugging). Locate the ceramic line fuse near the power cord entry. If blown, there is usually an underlying cause (shorted component or door switch). Replacing the fuse without finding the cause can lead to repeat failure.
If the fuse is blown or you are not comfortable opening the unit, have a technician inspect the internal fuse, thermal fuses, and control board.
