Possible Causes
Damaged membrane keypad, Moisture ingress behind control panel, Loose keypad ribbon cable, Failed touch sensor IC on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before removing the control panel.
- Dry the panel: If the panel was recently cleaned with liquid, leave the cooker unplugged for 24 hours in a dry place to allow moisture to evaporate.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the front/top cover to access the keypad ribbon cable. Ensure it is fully inserted into the connector and not torn.
- Check for cracks: Examine the keypad overlay for physical damage or bubbling, which can indicate delamination or liquid damage.
- Test buttons: With the unit reassembled and powered, test each button. If some or all keys are unresponsive and E8 remains, the keypad or control PCB is likely faulty.
- Replace keypad or PCB: Install a new Binatone membrane keypad/touch panel assembly. If the issue persists, replace the main control PCB that processes keypad signals.
