Possible Causes
Moisture ingress behind control panel, Worn or cracked keypad membrane, Loose ribbon cable between panel and PCB, Failed touch sensor IC on board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before inspecting the control panel.
- 1. Dry the panel: If the panel was recently wiped or exposed to steam, unplug and let the unit dry for 24 hours in a warm, dry area.
- 2. Clean surface: Wipe the panel gently with a slightly damp cloth and then dry. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the panel.
- 3. Reseat ribbon cable (advanced): Remove the outer shell as needed to access the ribbon cable from the keypad to the main board. Unplug and replug it to ensure a solid connection.
- 4. Replace keypad assembly: If specific buttons never respond or require excessive pressure, replace the control panel/keypad assembly with a Chefman-compatible part.
