Possible Causes
Faulty Start/Stop button on keypad, Lid not detected as closed, Internal safety interlock (overtemp or overpressure) latched, Control board logic fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker before inspecting internal parts. Do not bypass safety switches.
- 1. Confirm mode selection: Ensure a valid cooking program and time have been selected before pressing Start. Some Chefman models require pressing Start twice.
- 2. Check lid and gasket: Make sure the lid is fully locked and the sealing ring is properly installed. Many units will not start pressure modes if the lid is not detected as closed.
- 3. Test other buttons: If some buttons do not respond or require excessive force, the keypad membrane may be failing. Lightly clean the panel and try again.
- 4. Hard reset: Unplug for 10–15 minutes, then retry. If the unit still refuses to start any mode, the Start button contact or control board may need replacement.
