Possible Causes
Cooking starchy or foamy foods above recommended fill level, Clogged anti-block shield, Steam release valve partially blocked, Inner pot overfilled
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not cover the steam outlet. Allow the cooker to finish or cancel and depressurize before cleaning.
- Check fill level: For beans, rice, and porridge, ensure the food and liquid do not exceed the recommended level (often 1/2 or 2/3 of pot capacity).
- Clean anti-block shield: Remove and wash the shield and steam valve thoroughly to restore proper steam flow.
- Use oil or anti-foam: Add a small amount of cooking oil or use a larger pot size to reduce foaming.
Persistent spitting even with correct usage may indicate a worn valve assembly that should be replaced.
