Possible Causes
Blocked steam release valve, Blocked safety valve, Excessive food volume above max line, Thick or foamy foods obstructing pressure path
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not attempt to open the lid until all pressure is released and the float valve has dropped. Unplug the unit.
- Check fill level: Ensure you are not exceeding the maximum fill line, especially with beans, grains, or foamy foods. Reduce quantity and retry.
- Clean steam release valve: Remove the steam release knob/cap and wash it thoroughly. Ensure the vent hole is clear.
- Inspect safety valve: Locate the secondary safety valve on the lid (often a small metal or silicone plug). Make sure it moves freely and is not blocked by dried food.
- Clean lid interior: Remove the inner lid plate (if removable) and clean all channels and holes with warm soapy water. Rinse and dry completely.
- Check gasket: Inspect the main silicone sealing ring for deformation or food buildup. Clean or replace if worn.
- If E5 continues with proper fill and clean valves, the pressure control system (valves and sensor) may need professional inspection to ensure safe operation.
