Possible Causes
Open main heater element, Failed heater relay or triac on control board, Burnt wiring to heater, Overheat fuse (thermal cutoff) open
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker. Internal heater and mains wiring carry dangerous voltages. If you are not experienced with electrical repairs, contact a professional.
- Basic reset: Unplug for 10 minutes, then plug in and try a low-power program. If E6 reappears immediately, proceed to inspection.
- Check for burning smell or discoloration: Look around the base vents for signs of overheating or melted plastic.
- Internal inspection (advanced): Remove the bottom cover. Visually inspect the circular heater element under the inner pot for breaks, burn marks, or detached terminals.
- Check wiring: Ensure all spade connectors to the heater and thermal fuse are tight. Look for burnt or brittle wires and replace as needed.
- Test continuity: Using a multimeter (with the unit unplugged), check continuity of the heater element and thermal fuse. An open reading indicates a failed component.
- If the heater and thermal fuse test good, the fault is likely on the main control PCB (relay/triac). Board-level repair or replacement is recommended via an authorized Electrolux service center.
