Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool completely before inspection.
- Check for moisture: Remove the inner pot and inspect the heating plate and center sensor area for spills or moisture. Wipe dry with a soft cloth and let air-dry for at least 30 minutes.
- Clean sensor contact: Many Emeril Lagasse multicookers use a spring-loaded temperature sensor in the center of the heating plate. Gently press it down to ensure it moves freely. Clean any burnt-on residue with a slightly damp cloth (unit unplugged) and dry thoroughly.
- Power reset: Plug the unit back in and perform a power reset by unplugging for 5 minutes, then reconnecting. Try a low-temperature program like Keep Warm to see if E2 reappears.
- Advanced inspection: If comfortable and out of warranty, remove the bottom cover to access the NTC sensor wiring and main control board. Look for a small two-wire sensor connector from the heater plate to the board. Reseat the connector firmly.
If E2 returns immediately, the bottom NTC temperature sensor is likely defective and should be replaced. This usually requires disassembling the base and should be done by a technician.
