Possible Causes
Scorched food on heating plate, Inner pot not seated correctly, Blocked steam release or float valve causing localized overheating, Faulty overheat sensor or thermal fuse
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and let it cool completely. Do not open the lid if under pressure; wait until all pressure is released.
- Check inner pot seating: Remove the inner pot and inspect the heating plate. Ensure there is no debris or bent metal that prevents the pot from sitting flat. Reinstall the pot and rotate it slightly to ensure full contact.
- Clean burnt residue: If food is burnt onto the bottom of the inner pot or heating plate, clean thoroughly. Use warm soapy water and a non-abrasive scrubber on the pot; wipe the heating plate with a damp cloth only (never immerse the base).
- Inspect steam release: Remove and clean the steam release valve and float valve according to the manual. Blockages can cause uneven heating and trigger overheat protection.
- Try with water only: After cleaning, add 2–3 cups of water to the inner pot, close and lock the lid, and run a short pressure or steam cycle. If E3 does not appear, the issue was likely food residue or poor contact.
- Advanced: If E3 persists even with water only, the overheat sensor or thermal fuse on the heater plate may be failing and should be tested and replaced by a qualified technician.
