Possible Causes
Lid not fully closed, Lid position switch misaligned, Lid lock microswitch failure, Debris on lid latch preventing full closure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the multicooker and allow it to cool completely before inspecting the lid or latch area.
- Check lid closure: Open and firmly close the lid several times. Make sure the silicone gasket is seated evenly and not pinched, and that the lid latch clicks positively.
- Inspect the lid latch area: Look for food residue, dried sauce, or warped plastic around the latch. Clean the latch and strike plate with a damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly.
- Check the lid position switch: With the unit unplugged, gently press the lid latch in and out and listen for a distinct click from the internal microswitch. If there is no click or it feels mushy, the switch may be faulty.
- Test again: Plug the cooker back in, close the lid firmly, and start a simple program (e.g., Steam or Sauté). If E1 persists, the lid lock assembly or lid position switch likely needs replacement.
- When to stop: Do not bypass or force the lid lock. If the error remains after cleaning and reseating the gasket, contact a qualified technician or GreenPan support for lid lock assembly replacement.
