Possible Causes

Lid temperature sensor open circuit, Lid sensor wiring harness loose, Moisture intrusion in lid sensor connector, Failed NTC thermistor in lid

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the cooker and let it cool completely. Never open the lid while under pressure.

  • Clean the steam release area: Remove the steam release cap (if removable) and clean any food residue or starch buildup around the steam vent and sensor area with a soft brush and damp cloth. Dry thoroughly.
  • Inspect the lid sensor area: On many GreenPan multicookers, a small metal or ceramic sensor is located under the lid or near the steam vent. Check for visible damage, corrosion, or loose mounting.
  • Check for moisture: If the lid has recently been immersed or washed aggressively, moisture may be inside the sensor cavity. Allow the lid to air dry for 24 hours in a warm, dry place.
  • Reset and test: Plug the unit back in, perform a power reset (unplug 1–2 minutes, then reconnect), and run a short program with water only. If E2 reappears, the lid temperature sensor or its harness is likely defective.
  • Do not bypass sensors: Operating without a functioning temperature sensor is unsafe. Arrange for replacement of the lid temperature sensor or lid assembly.
