How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the multicooker and let it cool completely before opening anything. Never work on the unit while it is connected to mains power.

Step 1 – Power reset:

  • Unplug the Klarstein multicooker for at least 10 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and try a simple program (e.g. warm or low temperature) to see if E1 clears.

Step 2 – Inspect bottom sensor connection:

  • Remove the inner pot and check the exposed metal plate at the bottom for moisture or food residue. Wipe it dry.
  • Turn the unit upside down on a soft cloth. Remove the bottom cover screws (usually Phillips) to access the internal components.
  • Locate the bottom NTC sensor – typically a small metal probe or disc clipped to the underside of the heating plate with two thin wires going to the main PCB.
  • Check the sensor plug on the PCB: unplug and re-seat it firmly. Look for corrosion, burnt marks, or broken wires.

Step 3 – Basic sensor test (for users with a multimeter):

  • Set the multimeter to resistance (kΩ range).
  • Disconnect the sensor from the board and measure across the two sensor leads.
  • A typical NTC will read between 5–150 kΩ at room temperature. A reading of 0 Ω (short) or OL (open) indicates a bad sensor.

Step 4 – Corrective action:

  • If the sensor wiring is broken or the sensor reads open/short, replace the bottom NTC temperature sensor with a compatible Klarstein spare.
  • If the sensor tests OK but E1 persists, the fault is likely on the main control PCB. Replacement of the board is recommended and is best done by a qualified technician.

Do not bypass or short the sensor to clear the error; this can cause overheating and fire risk.
