E3 appears during cooking; unit stops heating and may beep continuously.

Safety: Unplug the cooker and allow it to cool fully. Do not add cold water to a very hot dry pot; it may warp.

Step 1 – Check pot and contents:

• Remove the inner pot and check if there was enough liquid. E3 often appears when cooking with too little water.
• Clean the bottom of the pot and the heating plate with a soft cloth. Remove any burnt-on food or sugar.
• Inspect the pot for warping: place it on a flat surface and see if it rocks. A warped pot will not make good contact with the sensor.

Step 2 – Re-seat and test:

• Place the clean pot back in, ensuring it sits flat and rotates freely.
• Add sufficient water (at least the minimum level indicated in the manual).
• Restart a low-temperature program to see if the error clears.

Step 3 – Internal inspection (if E3 persists immediately):

• With the unit unplugged, remove the bottom cover.
• Locate the thermal cutoff / thermal fuse and any bimetal thermostat attached to the heating plate.
• Check for signs of overheating or discoloration.

Step 4 – Repair:

• Replace a warped inner pot with a genuine Klarstein replacement.
• If the thermal fuse is open (no continuity), replace the thermal cutoff fuse with the same rating.
