Possible Causes
Blocked steam release valve, Clogged safety valve or pressure regulator, Defective electronic pressure sensor, Kinked or blocked pressure sensor tube (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: If the cooker is hot, do not open the lid until all pressure is released. Keep hands away from steam vents.
Step 1 – Release pressure safely:
- Turn the steam release knob to the venting position (if your Klarstein model has one) and allow all steam to escape.
- Wait until the float valve drops and the lid unlocks.
Step 2 – Clean pressure components:
- Remove the steam release valve cap and wash it under warm water. Clear any food particles or starch.
- Remove and clean the anti-block shield or metal cap over the steam outlet inside the lid.
- Check the float valve and its silicone gasket for sticking or residue; clean and ensure it moves freely.
Step 3 – Inspect pressure sensor:
- On many Klarstein multicookers, the pressure sensor is mounted under the lid or on the top of the housing, connected to the steam chamber via a small tube.
- Unplug the unit, remove the top cover, and locate the sensor (small round or rectangular device with two wires and sometimes a silicone tube).
- Ensure the tube is not kinked, blocked, or detached.
Step 4 – Repair:
- Replace clogged or damaged steam release valve and float valve gaskets.
- If the pressure sensor shows physical damage or E4 persists after cleaning, replace the pressure sensor assembly.
- If replacing the sensor does not resolve the issue, the main control board may be misreading pressure and should be checked by a technician.
