Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance immediately. Do not attempt to run it again until the fault is identified. Risk of electric shock and fire.
Step 1 – Visual inspection:
- Remove the inner pot and check for signs of burning or melting on the heating plate.
- Turn the unit upside down (unplugged) and remove the bottom cover.
- Look for burnt smell, charred components, or melted insulation on wires leading to the heating element.
Step 2 – Check heating element resistance:
- Disconnect the heating element wires from the main PCB.
- Measure resistance across the element terminals with a multimeter. A typical value is between 20–80 Ω depending on wattage.
- A reading near 0 Ω or visible short to chassis indicates a failed element.
Step 3 – Inspect control board:
- Examine the main control PCB for burnt tracks, cracked solder joints, or a blown triac/relay.
- If moisture is present, dry the board thoroughly and clean with isopropyl alcohol.
Step 4 – Repair:
- Replace a shorted main heating element and any burnt wiring harness.
- If the triac or relay is damaged, the main control PCB usually needs replacement as a complete module.
- Due to mains voltage and current involved, this repair is recommended for qualified technicians only.
