E9 error appears and the cooker stops; may be associated with very high pressure or steam escaping from safety valve.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Critical safety warning: Overpressure can cause explosion. If you see E9 with heavy steam or hissing, unplug the cooker immediately and keep clear of the steam path. Do not cover the cooker.
Step 1 – Allow full depressurization:
- Do not attempt to force the lid open.
- Wait until all hissing stops and the float valve drops.
Step 2 – Inspect and clean pressure path:
- Remove and thoroughly clean the steam release valve, anti-block shield, and float valve.
- Ensure all holes and channels are free of food, starch, or scale.
Step 3 – Check safety valve:
- Inspect the safety valve (often a one-time fusible plug or spring-loaded valve) for signs of activation (deformed, melted, or permanently open).
- If the safety valve has activated, it must be replaced; do not attempt to reuse or block it.
Step 4 – Pressure sensor and control:
- Have a technician test the pressure sensor and main control PCB to ensure they are correctly limiting pressure.
Do not use the cooker again until all pressure control components are verified and any activated safety devices are replaced with genuine Klarstein parts.
