Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the multicooker and allow it to cool completely before inspecting the lid or internal parts.
- Check lid closure: Open and firmly close the lid. Make sure the silicone gasket is seated evenly and no utensil or food residue is trapped on the rim that could prevent full closure.
- Inspect lid alignment: Verify that the lid arrow/mark aligns with the body mark (if present) and that the lid is rotated/locked fully into position.
- Clean the lid sensor area: On many Our Place multicookers, a small magnet or metal tab on the lid interacts with a reed switch or microswitch in the body. Wipe the rim and the underside of the lid with a damp cloth to remove grease or debris that may block the sensor.
- Check for play in the lid: Gently press down on the lid near the handle while starting a program. If E1 disappears only when pressing, the lid switch or hinge assembly may be loose or worn.
- Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5 minutes, then plug back in and try again with the lid firmly locked.
- Do not bypass safety: Never attempt to tape, jumper, or bypass the lid switch; this is a critical safety device for pressure and high-heat modes.
If E1 persists after cleaning and confirming proper closure, the lid switch assembly or lid harness likely needs replacement and should be serviced by a qualified technician.
