Possible Causes
Open-circuit lid NTC sensor, Shorted lid NTC sensor, Damaged lid sensor wiring harness, Faulty main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the multicooker and allow it to cool completely before opening the lid or removing any covers. Never work on the unit while it is connected to mains power.
- Power reset: Unplug the cooker for 10–15 minutes, then plug it back in and try a simple program (e.g., reheat) with an empty, dry inner pot. If E1 clears, it may have been a transient fault.
- Check lid cleanliness: Open the lid and inspect the area around the steam vent and the metal temperature plate or sensor in the lid. Wipe away any food residue, starch, or moisture with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dry thoroughly. Contamination can cause false sensor readings.
- Inspect lid sensor cable (if accessible): On many Oursson multicookers, the lid temperature sensor wiring passes through a hinge cover. With the unit unplugged, remove the hinge trim (usually a few screws) and look for pinched, cut, or broken wires going to the lid. If you see damage, the harness should be replaced.
- Check sensor connection: If you can access the top cover (only if you are comfortable and the warranty has expired), remove the outer lid cover and verify that the lid NTC sensor plug is firmly seated on the main board or intermediate connector. Reseat the connector.
- When to stop: If the E1 error appears immediately on power-up or returns after these steps, the lid sensor or main PCB is likely defective. Do not bypass or short the sensor; contact an authorized Oursson service center for sensor or board replacement.
